I have been warning people about ‘diet’ drinks and artificial sweeteners for many years and finally scientists are coming up with the research to prove the incidental evidence that has been around for years. Artificial sweeteners create an expectation of sugar/sweet in the body that creates a craving for it, and when the food that has been eaten does not satisfy that craving your body will continue to feel hungry for longer. More insistently hungry!

“In a series of experiments, scientists at Purdue University compared weight gain and eating habits in rats whose diets were supplemented with sweetened food containing either zero-calorie saccharin or sugar. The report, published in Behavioral Neuroscience, presents some counterintuitive findings: Animals fed with artificially sweetened yogurt over a two-week period consumed more calories and gained more weight — mostly in the form of fat — than animals eating yogurt flavored with glucose, a natural, high-calorie sweetener. It’s a continuation of work the Purdue group began in 2004, when they reported that animals consuming saccharin-sweetened liquids and snacks tended to eat more than animals fed high-calorie, sweetened foods. The new study, say the scientists, offers stronger evidence that how we eat may depend on automatic, conditioned responses to food that are beyond our control.” TIME

Now this along with all the incidental evidence that has been around for years about how bad for you artificial sweeteners are needs to be made public. Did you know the there is evidence that Artificial Sweeteners may cause diabetes, migraines, and nerve disorders that mimic MS?

So the scientists are now saying it is better to eat a smaller portion of full fat and sugar version of your favourite sweet than a larger portion of the artificially sweetened form.

Some harmful dietary sugars almost turn directly into fat! They actually increase the chance of stroke, diabetes, and decrease athletic performance. Here are the following dietary sugars that can harm you:

Isn’t that the truth! Simple sugars lead to insulin resistance and diabetes, but artificial sweeteners are no substitute.
